CháBliss

CháBliss
Hi, we’re new here, and we’d love to invite you into our restful wonderland we call CháBliss.
A culmination of ‘cha’, the Chinese word for tea, and the euphoric release of bliss, we’re a restorative third space, that cloud nine in-between — neither home nor work — where you’re free to just be who you are. Liberated from the responsibilities, deadlines, and hectic living of The Rush. A place where it’s all about you, and tea.
I moved here from China by myself back in 2015, when I was just 16. After university I began working as an architect but I wasn’t satisfied with my life: waking up, going to work, going home again — it felt very ‘straight line’. There was barely a moment to decompress. I realised I needed a place to go where everything was calm, where I could forget everything and just enjoy the moment. Nobody seemed to have created what I was looking for and, being a very action-forward person, I decided to do it myself. Next minute I’d quit my job and gone back to China to find something to fill the void.
Perhaps inevitably I fell upon tea. But that was really unexpected to me because I’d never been especially interested in traditional Chinese tea culture. It felt so closed and irrelevant to me as a young person. It seemed like sitting down for a long time just drinking tea and that didn’t seem fun.
So CháBliss isn’t like anything you’ve ever seen before. It draws on tradition while being firmly grounded in contemporary living. It’s tea culture reimagined. A tonic to the frenetic energy of your day-to-day.
Here we do things differently. We’re not your grab-and-go, candy-crushed, plastic-wrapped bubble tea, and we’re not weighed down by ancient customs. We’re a sanctuary first and foremost, a tea space second.
Our offerings embody liquid luxury. We serve fluted champagne tea for two, nitro-tea — a riff on cold brew coffee — and tea beer which is gluten-free. It’s that inclusive, sober-curious ideal brought into existence in a way that actually tastes good. Our fruit tea contains real fruit and our milk tea is made from fresh milk, not powder. We brew tea as if it were coffee, using a set up that’s one-of-a-kind in Aotearoa.
Pop by and stay a while. We’ll help you find a tea that’s perfect for your moment.
