One of the Six Famous Types of Tea in China, Green Tea. Slight-fermented with cool nature.
The core production area of Taiping Houkui Tea is located in the former Taiping County at the northern foot of Huangshan Mountain, now the Huangshan District, where the average altitude reaches 800 meters. When the sky is clear, this area is covered with fog both in the morning and evening, providing an advantage of producing good tea from high altitude areas. Counterfeit and low-quality Houkui mostly come from other mountain ranges. With easier picking procedure and higher output, Houkui form these areas mostly have lower prices.
The first infusion has a strong aroma, the second brew has a strong flavor, and the third and fourth ones still have a faint fragrance and the taste remains the same.
The shoots of authentic Houkui have one fat bud embraced by two long leaves, with a tender yellow green color. However, the length of the buds and leaves of the fake Houkui is uneven, with a relatively large proportion of the stem and a bright green color.
The liquor of high-quality Houkui is tender yellow green, and has strong orchid aroma and brisk flavor, with good smell and tast. On the contrary, counterfeits have a mixed color and weak aroma, and the taste may be slightly bitter.
