The purple liquor and purple leaves of Zi Juan come from its purple fresh leaves. In the early days, the processing of Zi Juan was mostly done using the techniques of green tea, some in the form of loose tea, while some in the form of compressed tea, with cake-shaped tea being the predominant form. The core characteristic of this tea is its high content of anthocyanins. Zi Juan is particularly common in Yunnan, where it is made into blck brown cake-shaped tea.
